Shang-Chi Reveals Doctor Strange Wong Cameo (Sets Up Multiverse Of Madness?)

The Shang-Chi trailer with Legend of the Ten Rings features a cameo from Wong, which may have introduced Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The new trailer for Shang-Chi and Legend of the Ten Rings features a cameo from Wong, which may mock Doctor Strange's setting in the Multiverse of Madness. With the opening of theaters, Marvel Studios is set to release a slate for their movies starting with Cate Shortland and Scarlett Johansson's Small Widow. After that, Destin Cretton's first MCU entry will be on display, with the brand new MCU hero - Shang-Chi.

Starring Phone Liu, Shang-Chi and Legend of the Ten Rings will be Marvel Studios' first project with many Asian actors. In addition to the appearance of its titular character, the project will also feature real Mandarin following deception about the character in Shane Black's Iron Man. That turned out to be a divisive response, prompting them to release Marvel One-Shot, All Hail The King, which confirmed the existence of the real Mandarin. In addition to the two main characters, Shang-Chi and Legend of the Ten Rings will play mainly new MCU players including Akwafina Katy and Michelang Yeoh's Jiang Nian. But given the love of Marvel Studios for highlighting its connected chats, the movie will also have a familiar face, including Wong.

Is That Hulk Villain Abomination In The Shang-Chi Trailer?

In Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings's shot's final, Wong appears to be fighting an Abomination from The Incredible Hulk, in what appears to be an underground bird battle. While the clip did not reveal Wong's immediate rifle, his magic trick and behavior are exactly like Doctor Strange's loyal hand. And you should know that Benedict Wong was seen living with Liu in Australia back in September 2020, at the same time as movie production was in progress. If you look at how difficult it was to travel around the world at that time as it was the height of the coronavirus, it is unlikely that it was a random encounter with the characters of Marvel Studios. This further supports the notion that Wong is indeed in Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings.

So, if you think Wong is involved in the upcoming MCU movie, what does it mean for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness? The character is confirmed by Sam Raimi's first attempt at Marvel Studios, which will see the future Great Witch continue on a brand new journey. As the franchise thrives on its linked narrative, there is no exception to the possibility that, somehow, what happened in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings contributed to Doctor Strange’s forthcoming exit. Perhaps, Wong is on a hunt for someone and leads him to an underground tournament that was also in Shang-Chi; perhaps he was following Mordo, who, at the end of Doctor Strange, became disillusioned and walked away, snatching the mysterious power of other people.

Another possible connection is with ten real rings. As a group, Masters of the Mystic Arts has been around for thousands of years, and it has some very old antiquities. There is a chance for them to catch the spirit of the existence of these Ten Rings, and knowing what they can do, they take it upon themselves to find it so that it will not be used for the wrong reasons. It's an exciting idea that Wong may be more involved in Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings than previously thought. Whether his appearance in the above-mentioned movie is simply a matter of cameo or not, it will not be long before he appears on the big screen with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
